Cal Poly Open House 2009

SPM tradition dictates that we go all out for Open House (the Saturday when incoming freshmen are invited to tour the campus, plus community and current students--it's WILD), and we weren't joking around this time. We covered two strategic positions for the day--in the museum and out among the student booths along the main thoroughfare.

We were so excited to have people visit the museum that we put together a poster for the Campbell press (read: GIANT press) that people could crank out. That was a learning experience for many of us printers...

Outside we amped it up this year and brought out a press and a case of type (what is it with us and transporting platen presses everywhere?). Earlier we printed some clever bookplates and during the day visitors were invited to set their name in type and print a few personalized bookplates.

It was a blast--by the end of the day we were exhausted, smelling like BBQ, and covered in ink. It was a reminder of how great it is to print inside in a temperature controlled, non-pollen ridden, accessible building...
